A First Look At The PFA Flat Wagon!

A First Look At The PFA Flat Wagon!

Hot on the heels of our Cemflo and PCA cement wagons comes our fourth OO wagon release, the humble but distinctive PFA four wheeled flat wagon.

The PFAs were constructed from 1986 for service on the iconic Cawoods Coal containerised coal trains, which ran from collieries across England and Wales to ports in the North West for onward shipment to Ireland. These saw them run in block trains behind classic BR Blue and sector liveried traction such as Class 37s, 56s and 60s.

In the early 1990’s a portion of these wagons were allocated to British Fuels and ran to various destinations between the North of England and Scotland. After privatisation of the railways, the PFAs continued in service carrying domestic coal traffic, but were also used to carry special gypsum containers for British Gypsum, and are still in service today, carrying low level nuclear waste for DRS.

Our model of this versatile wagon will see a diecast flat wagon with multiple configurations to reflect their years of diverse service. A highly detailed container flat wagon with a wealth of separately applied parts will be joined with an array of different container bodies in multiple packs.

We have received our first tooling samples of our forthcoming model. As you can see the wagon is mostly diecast to ensure sufficient weight for operation. There is a large amount of separately applied parts and detail, particularly on the underframe, as you come to expect from us.

We are currently reviewing these newly supplied factory samples and correcting the small factory errors before pressing the button on production. The overall look of the wagons has been superbly captured and we are still on course for delivery in late July.

We will have these samples on display at the DEMU Showcase event this weekend at Green Bank Leisure Centre Civic Way, Swadlincote, South Derbyshire. Make sure you drop by our stand for a look!

These wagons have been extremely popular judging by our pre-orders so far, so make sure you don't miss out. At £69.95 for a pack of three wagons with individual detail and attractive rake deals on offer, they represent excellent value for money for a brand new model with this intricate level of detail. Order yours direct from us today!
