HOP 24 / HUO Production Samples Arrive for Review

The latest landmark in our first British outline model was reached this afternoon. We have received production samples of our HOP 24 wagons. As you can see above, they make for an impressive sight when arranged in a full rake!

We are delighted with the fine fit and finish that our factory has achieved with these models. After all, fitting 73 separate parts together to form each individual wagon is quite the task. There are a couple of tweaks required, but overall we are very happy with the quality and craftsmanship that has gone into these wagons from our Chinese factory. They have taken our “in-house” CAD design, put together by our technical staff who surveyed the prototype at the Tanfield Railway last year and produced a special model.

One other aspect we are delighted with is our ‘ready to weather’ finish. As you can see in the pictures below, the outline of the panels are not straight, but are carefully drawn to represent slapdash painting of panels that the prototypes had in their hard lives in BR service. We also have parts of lettering and numbers missing. This is deliberate, and not down to some poor tampo rendering. All the modeller has to do is apply the coal and brake dust as well as some rusty goodness to bring these wagons further to life.

Delivery of these models is on schedule and is due later in May 2018. Due to this deadline coming ever closer, we have seen a surge of orders in recent days. Make sure you don’t miss out, place your order here.
