LNER J69 n° 359 provenait d'un lot antérieur de dix locomotives construites à Stratford en 1892 et a été reconstruite en 1904 dans la classe R24r, gagnant une nouvelle sécurité vannes, une nouvelle conception de chaudière et des réservoirs latéraux de 1 180 gallons, mais en conservant la cabine étroite d'origine et la soute à charbon . Le n° 359 est représenté dans la première version de 1923 de la livrée LNER de Black with Red Lining, avec les initiales L&NER entièrement ombrées.
