Class 55 'Deltic' - BR Blue - 55020 - Nimbus
DCC Sound Fitted

One of just three Deltics to never receive plated headcode boxes, 55020 is also notable for retaining the mountings for the cab roof horns worn during the early 1960s. Our model is based on its 1976 condition with standard-sized domino headcodes, although alternative smaller dots will be provided.

Excellent but some flaws

As expected the loco looks superb and significantly cleaner than when I saw her in Doncaster works many years ago .
The finish and detail , together with the packs of bits to add on arevtruly excellent and whilst fitting chains and buffer beam detail will take time , the results will be worth it .
Initial impressions of the running are that it is very smooth and handles the track well with points of various radii dealt with effortlessly. I shall however reserve longer term judgement given the issues I have had with previous Deltics .
The sound is excellent but I have reduced the volumes as certain sounds were a little distorted.
The lighting is very nice and the issue of the illuminated tails lights , well documented and a little disappointing, but nothing that can’t be sorted once the body is off .
My only real gripe is the coupling mechanism. The problems are the same as the first run and will require similar surgery in adapting the mounting plate and the potential removal of the spring . The system has not led to derailments but I still prefer the Bachmann method .
Overall though , the models are lovely and when the snags are resolved they have a presence on the layout which is unmatched in my view .
I am biased though as they are the greatest locos ever built !
Thank you .

The best of the best

This Deltic model takes me straight back to Kings x in the 70s it truly is fabulous the sound is totally unreal it's like being at the side of the real thing, I've got a Cl66 from Accurascale, But this Deltic is truly something else, I've ordered another Nimbus from TMC who are renumbering it to the Green Howards these Deltics from Accurascale cannot be beat on any level.

Deltic

Well, it took over a year from placing the order to it's arrival but......
it was worth the wait in the end. The detail and quality are superb.

Yet again, my wait for the Deltic was not in vain .
My OO fleet is purely accurascale now, as I sell off my other non-accurascale models.

Couple of minor issues, the lighting problem and boiler water filler not present, 20 never had its sealed up. However, a fantastic model otherwise.
