Andrew Barclay and SECR P Class Lokpilot DCC Decoder

LokPilot DCC Decoder (No Sound)

Based on ESU's tried and tested Lokpilot 5 decoder, this 6 Pin version is tailored to fit inside the limited space available in our Andrew Barclay and SECR P Class Locomotives, while still giving you the maximum DCC functionality.

Common Features:

  • The LokPilot 5 decoder can be used on analog DC and AC railways. The decoder switches between the operating modes fully automatically "on-the-fly". Usually nothing needs to be set.

  • The engine control of the LokPilot 5 has been fundamentally improved again. A variably adjustable PWM clock frequency from 10kHz to 50kHz ensures super quiet operation, especially with bell-armature motors - the typical "hum" is a thing of the past. The load control can now be adapted to difficult cases with up to 10 CVs. The unique "Autotune" function enables the decoder to be automatically calibrated to the motor. With up to 1.5A motor current, the LokPilot 5 decoder provides enough juice even for older motors.

  • Protection, Of course, all function outputs and the motor output are protected against overload. We want you to enjoy your decoder for as long as possible.

Easy to fit

Decoder was easy to fit into socket and works well.

Not yet convinced

Decoder very easy to fit once the body removed and the change of code from the standard 003 was done without issue. However, the engine does not run very well, indeed it is substandard The decoder is perhaps not the problem but the situation as it has presented itself not ideal.

First venture into DCC

Fitting the chip was no problem - once located the instructions on the LokPilot web site (no printed instructions included). All works fine on 12v analogue. Not yet tried on DCC as this is the first step in my journey to DCC; so will need to invest in a command station and a cab next.

Decoders

Very good decoders

Only thing that stops a 5* review is it would be helpful for something to mark pin1. I know it wouldn't damage it putting it in reversed, but it's not good practice. Otherwise, does exactly what it should.

It's a small one.

Didn't think a Decoder could be this small well I have now, and it does its job well, this is the smallest one that I have ever fitted. Was not sure what the loose blue wire was for so left it alone, now the loco is working just great.

P Class 6 Pin Lokpilot Decoder

Loco didn’t run so well to start with. Set some of the motor parameters towards the standard settings and achieved much smoother running. Also set up braking function and emergency brake settings and generally messed about with function button setup. All easily done with a Srog and Decoder Pro. Lokpilots are probably amongst the best decoders for the price.
