Nice but could be better.

First I will say that the loco looks lovely with it's matt smokebox and intricate details, however the sound output as supplied is very lacking. Comparing to another manor I have from another company the sound is like something from 12 years ago. The sound lacks any depth and the volume is low even on ESU max settings. Looking inside the tender you can see why as the majority of the space is taken up by the PCB with the most pathetic speaker below which is not even fully enclosed, Accuthrash this not. While I do appreciate space is limited in this size of model the manor I have from another company has a much larger speaker in the tender with much better sound reproduction. Another issue is that the model does jutter at low speeds either starting or stopping again something my other manor does not do. So although I think the overall look and detail of the Accurascale manor is better, the running and sound is much better in my model from another company. To be honest I am a little disapointed, but I think this is more to do my expectation after hearing some of the companies diesel loco sounds

Another amazing loco by Accurascale

Great loco

First off, this loco is probably a 4.5 star model, only losing the .5 to a few minor issues.

Firstly is the difficulty of separating the loco and tender to place a DCC chip. To do this you need to disconnect the large electrical connector between the loco and tender, this is tricky and you are at risk of damaging small details - of which there are many. Reconnecting these is equally as hard but is well worth it.

The only other issue I have noticed is that the middle tender wheels tend to lift off the track on the sharper radius of curve. This hasn't noticeably impacted performance but is something to take note of.

As for the positives, of which there are many, the etched plates are fabulous, as are the crew. The detail is immaculate and the loco is happily navigating my small layout.

A final thing to note is that the non - sound chip disables the firebox by default, I found that 8 worked to switch it back on.

Overall a great loco and I would recommend.

Amazing quality without breaking the bank

Just an overall stunningly beautiful locomotive with dcc sound, firebox flickering and all for a reasonable price.

A big WOW for the manor!

I wasn’t fast enough to order a manor locomotive when they were first announced, but luckily there were some Iford Manor locomotives left with DCC sound so I promptly ordered one.

The locomotive arrived well packaged and the box is lovely. The locomotive itself is a work of art. It captures the manor class locomotive perfectly and the sound is superb. The best I have heard on a 00 gauge steam locomotive.

I will definitely be placing an order for another manor when the next batch is announced and I will be quicker to order next time!

Lovely model

I placed this order on the basis of Accurascale's excellent diesel and electric locomotives. Reviews I watched were a little variable. I am pleased to say Accurascale fulfilled my expectations with an excellent model. No issues with excess glue showing and the base of the chimney I think looks great. Running is good and mine crawls slowly straight from the box and the motor is quiet. The sound fitted version gives fantstic sound, very realistic. Perhaps not as loud as some, but I think other models are too loud. Well done and I am glad I purchased it.

Four and a half stars ?

Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot to admire with these Manors, most of
which has already been covered elsewhere.
The one bugbear for me is the loco to tender connection, uncoupling to
get to the dcc is awkward and having to check that the loco and tender are
connected with the bar before placing on the track (similar to early
Bachmann steam tender loco’s) is frustrating.
