Accurascale Barclay

Quality model, very solid build with good detail. However, a major problem concerning the gears did spoil the experience somewhat. When the model arrived I was very impressed but when I went to run the model it did not go. The worm gear had lost contact with the gear train because the motor mounts are poor. I contacted Accurascale and they provided instructions to fix it. Removing the body was complex yet easy. Once you know what pipes to disconnect the body comes of the chassis simply. It know runs well and I am happy with it, although the problem did somewhat dampen the experience. I would still recommend as build quality is very (apart from the motor mounts) good. Service from Accurascale could not have been better.

Great little model.

The packaging is nice and sturdy. The model itself is amazing. A great little runner and stunning to boot.

Good quality as always.

Brilliant idea.

Solid Model, Good Price, one issue that was thankfully easy to fix.

Arrived undamaged and functional. Box is Accurascale branded, oversized but very sleek looking with a nice reminder of Hattons printed on the side.

Disassembly and DCC Fitting is simple in theory, mildly finnicky in practice as there's a lot of (thankfully) flexible pipework that you have to be careful to not snag. Be wary of the pipework underneath the running board (both sides), the brass capped pipe on the boiler (both sides, mentioned in instructions. Wound up losing both caps on this example but ah well), and the reverser on the chassis block itself (right hand cab side). Assuming you don't get Accurascale's decoder, the decoder size is gonna be very small, somewhere around a GM Ruby series.

I purchased a Lined Dark Blue variant as well. There's a little nook located beneath the saddle tank, in front of the right hand side of the cab and behind the little sandbox. Found some excess lube there as that's where the gear train sits. Mistook it for glue at first but it wiped off easily and didn't mar the finish.

Possible issues: Did not function out of the box. Motor would spin but wheels wouldn't. Turns out the clips holding the front of the motor weren't engaging properly, an easy enough fix with a pair of pliers. Take care not to apply too much force on the clips, while they are surprisingly flexible, there's always a risk of snapping under too much force.

Overall still love the things, technically my first Accurascale branded models, but a very pleasant reminder of my favorite model shop. Keep up the good work Accurascale, can't wait for the Buckjumpers and 57xx!

Overall a solid model for a good price

Canadian

The Andrew B arrived in good time, however it had a problem. I contacted Accurascale & within a short time offered an easy-to-use repair. Great work. The engine performs very well beautifully painted & detailed. Great job on this engine!

Lovely little shunter. Runs well in both directions. Nice weight and good level of detail. Looking forward to running it down the club.

Barclay O4Ost.

Very pleased with my new acquisition, it runs beautifully and looks the beesknees on my garage layout. Really most impressed.

Fantastic little loco

This is one fantastic little loco and I feel I really got my money's worth with this one. It's a fantastic little runner, very smooth and the blue livery looks absolutely stunning.

I give many thanks to you at Accurascale for saving what was a Hattons original and giving it a second chance at life as I was not lucky enough to get it when Hattons was around.

Many thanks for a fantastic loco once again and I look forward enormously to more purchases from you in the future - 5 out of 5 stars

Superb

Perfect, I really like the way the roof lifts off for ease of adding passengers, the built in lighting is fantastic with the stay alive capacitor. Well done accurascale.

Best in the field

The attention to detail on '248' is impressive. A track level, and especially when 'going away' from the observer, it is very convincing. I'm sure that if I had the sound version it would take me right back to the real thing in the seventies!

Brilliant Model

Superb model. Great amount of weight and brilliant model straight out of the box.

My only issues is that the model did not come with etched builders plates or a flickering firebox but for the price, it isn’t a massive issue

A warranty exchange

The whole process of returning my one of my coaches which had a fault, was done with ease and efficiency. From me taking the parcel to my local collecting point and the return of a brand new coach was 10 days.
Well done Accurascale.

Suburban Mk1 CL

Quite simply the most detailed coach I own. Incredibly fine underframe gear plus amazingly decorated interior with well applied livery. A couple of minor niggles - the lights fade and go out occasionally, despite operating on DCC, plus the coach isn't as free running as the excellent Mk2b.

Container

This pack was what I was looking for that's why I ordered another one always rely on Accurascale

Barclay - Good For Me, Bad For Others

I'm writing my review based on my own experience & others. Ive found my model to be a brilliant performer, it looks fantastic bar a bent cab (not noticeable unless your looking) however, the reports ive had from friends and seen online is slightly less justifying if I were to recommend this product, clearly some quality control has been missed & its why these models have arrived broken.

I hope my review is helpful towards future developments on these locomotives.

Fantastic little loco

I have a soft spot for industrial tank engines so was a no brainer. Fantastic little loco, looks the part and runs well

Helped to restore it and drove it!

Very pleased with it. Now need to source printed transfers to Name it “Henry Ellison” which I helped to restore and then drove and fired regularly at The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway. Look forward to visiting the stand at the NEC next Saturday.

CIE / IR Mk.2b/c Passenger Coach

These coaches arrived to me in very attractive & sturdy packaging. The coaches themselves are so realistic & true to life. They are an excellent representation of the real thing. Thank you .

a great little engine

excellent runner, looks great
