Lined dark blue Andrew Barclay

Non runner on arrival, emailed Accurascale and they got back to me very quickly, with an explanation and a detailed, easy to follow method to solve the issue.

Beyond that, the model is fully intact, and beautifully decorated. Now the recommended method has been implemented, it runs nicely as well.

Fantastic little model

I've heard nothing but praise for this diminutive little tank engine, and now that I have one I completely get it. Excellently detailed and a flawless runner on my less than ideal trackwork. Great to see this model wasn't lost when Hattons shut down.

Overall a solid model for a good price

Arrived undamaged and functional. Box is Accurascale branded, oversized but very sleek looking with a nice reminder of Hattons printed on the side.

Disassembly and DCC Fitting is simple in theory, mildly finnicky in practice as there's a lot of (thankfully) flexible pipework that you have to be careful to not snag. Be wary of the pipework underneath the running board (both sides), the brass capped pipe on the boiler (both sides, mentioned in instructions), and the reverser on the chassis block itself (right hand cab side). Assuming you don't get Accurascale's decoder, the decoder size is gonna be very small, somewhere around a GM Ruby series.

There's a little nook located beneath the saddle tank, in front of the right hand side of the cab and behind the little sandbox. Found some excess lube there as that's where the gear train sits. Mistook it for glue at first but it wiped off easily and didn't mar the finish.

Possible issues: I bought the NCB Maroon "Carbon" version as well, and at first the motor didn't engage with the gear train. Turns out the clips holding the motor weren't engaging properly, an easy enough fix with a pair of pliers. Take care not to apply too much force on the clips, while they are surprisingly flexible, there's always a risk of snapping under too much force.

Overall still love the things, technically my first Accurascale branded models, but a very pleasant reminder of my favorite model shop. Keep up the good work Accurascale, can't wait for the Buckjumpers and 57xx!

Barclay - Good For Me, Bad For Others

I'm writing my review based on my own experience & others. Ive found my model to be a brilliant performer, it looks fantastic bar a bent cab (not noticeable unless your looking) however, the reports ive had from friends and seen online is slightly less justifying if I were to recommend this product, clearly some quality control has been missed & its why these models have arrived broken.

I hope my review is helpful towards future developments on these locomotives.

Fantastic little loco

I have a soft spot for industrial tank engines so was a no brainer. Fantastic little loco, looks the part and runs well

Helped to restore it and drove it!

Very pleased with it. Now need to source printed transfers to Name it “Henry Ellison” which I helped to restore and then drove and fired regularly at The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway. Look forward to visiting the stand at the NEC next Saturday.

Lovely Executed Model

A beautiful little model with excellent decoration. A great range of locos to choose from and at reasonable price. I can't wait for my Buckjumper.

Fabulous industrial locomotive

By far my favourite of the ready to run industrial offerings I was sad when hattons collapsed.
My collection is now home to four you these 0-4-0 gems which easily out perform some of the 0-6-0 offerings I have from other manufacturers.
Which makes the Andrew Barclays one of the best options when shunting at exhibitions and at home.
I'm so glad that accurascale managed to secure the tooling for this model a very useful locomotive for industrial and heritage railway modelling.

Classic Andrew Barclay style beautifully captured by Accurascale

A superb rendering of an Andrew Barclay 0-6-0ST. This is a quiet, smooth and sure-footed model that ably copes with insulfrog points. It is a sturdy workhorse and the detailing and livery application are top-notch. Well done Accurascale for bringing forward this former Hatton's model.
