Completed nearly six years after D6700 had left Vulcan Foundary, D6600 was the first of nine English Electric Type 3s to be numbered out of sequence as the fleet outgrew its allocated series and bumped up against the Western Regions D7000 'Hymek' locomotives. Delivered to 86A Cardiff Canton in August 1965 and then to Swansea Landore in 1971, later gaining the number 37300, it spent the first 20 years of its life primarily on freight duties in and around South Wales before eventually moving to Scotland at the start of 1985. It had barely settled in north of the border when it received the call to Crewe Works in the October for refurbishment as one of the Welsh-based Class 37/4s, 37429. D6600 wears its original BR green with small yellow warning panel and features its as-built nose condition with no riveted strenthening plate and WR-style lamp irons only.

A superb model.

An excellent design with quality assembly, decoration, and DCC sound- I’m not always a fan of sound but this model calls for it. Great performance with slow speed control. And it’s great value. The packaging is also quality.

D6600 - original livery as delivered when new

Another excellent model from Accurascale. What a pleasure it is to get a loco out of the box that you know is going to work exactly as the spec says. Excellent paint finish and attention to detail.

Br green class 37

Lovely loco, well made runs and sounds lovely, the only downside is the green is still the wrong shade

Class 37 6600

Basically this latest class 37 is spot on compared to all previous models especially for me the cab windows and glazing are really impressive .with the accurathrash sound as well this is a clear winner ,which has persuaded me to purchase the Green FYP and the Pretops Blue D6992.great stuff.

Worth the wait

A trip to the North Norfolk Railway and a stunning preserved green class 37 in addition to the many YouTube videos showing the sound fitted Accurascale model was all it took. I ordered one as soon as I got home. The wait is now over and my first DCC loco is here and it was well worth the wait. From the excellent packaging and paperwork to the model itself which I can only describe as stunning. The detail is perfect and the model performs without fault I could listen to that engine start and stop for hours. Only one problem, what to buy next my preservation layout.

The magic diesel.

A superbly engineered model with outstanding detail. Having weighed the loco, I get the feeling I may have to upgrade some of my layout to cope with the 698 grams it comes in at.
Decoration and detail is perfect. Having chosen the original British Railways green livery with centre head code, I’m definitely “old-school”, and this render takes me back to seeing the original in the flesh.
As with the class 66, this loco comes with bogie sensors to trigger “flange squeal”. In my opinion, one of the best innovations in recent times.
The only alteration to the decoder CVs I’ve made is to the “F2” braking feature. CVs 179 and 182 control the deceleration level and what speed the locomotive should slow down to. As supplied, CV 182 is set to 126 which is maximum speed, meaning “F2” Brake Function 1 has no effect on the locomotive what so ever. Setting CV 179 to 1, and CV 182 to 0 (zero) enables the loco to slow down and come to a stop at the rate set in CV 4. Balance “F2 braking”, and “F7, drive hold” and you have another dimension to the driving experience.
All told, an excellent model, plenty of pulling power, immaculate decoration, a whole host of functions and sound files.
