Lovely little shunter. Runs well in both directions. Nice weight and good level of detail. Looking forward to running it down the club.

As a director of the Ribble Steam Railway where this locomotive resides. I have found it a very good likenesses in a lot of the detail to the real thing. Excellent job accurascale.

Efficiently Efficient

I was very pleased to receive my model of this beautiful little Andrew Barclay locomotive.
The livery and detail is excellent but, sadly one of the front buffers was loose in the box. On closer inspection it was found to be bent in its housing.
Ok, I could have returned it and waited for a replacement locomotive.
Never one to shy away from small repairs myself I proceeded to part the buffer head from its housing, straighten it and with a dab of super glue all was good.

A good model, albeit some small flaws.

Pros: Good smooth performance, excellent printed lining, sprung buffers, nicely cast wheels.
Cons: Cab porthole window is too high, inclusion of vacuum brake components which are not prototypical, chimney join to body is too pronounced, different Barclay class to prototype.

'Efficient'

This is my first Accurascale purchase as I had heard lots of good reviews elsewhere.
The model arrived in a very snug box - the box makes the loco look smaller than it is, but comparing it with my other tank engines, it is to scale.
This locomotive is the cutest tank engine on my layout and decided to go with this livery as the real 'Efficient' is only a couple of miles away from me in Preston!
The paint and lining is excellent, as is the interior cab decoration.
The separately fitted items such as handrails and pipework are flawless and printed detail is also of good quality.
The motor is a strong motor and once it has been run in, has no real problems with picking up.

Very ‘Efficient’ !

Can’t fault the running qualities of the model at all.
The rear struts on the cab on my example were slightly distorted as others have experienced, but this is easily fixed.
I do think that the box is too big as on other Accurascale models, but this
is my personal opinion and takes nothing away from the loco.

Best model I've ordered so far!

Pre ordered Efficient back in August and paid it off a week later.

I then waited months later until November when Efficient came and I've had no major issues with it.

Only slight worry I've had concerns a front buffer but a few minute TLC moment and I've not had any further issues.

I've run it in as well and it's had an absolutely flawless performance! I absolutely wish I could get another one.

Andrew Barclay 0-4-0ST 14" 'Efficient'

A parcel arrived for me a couple of days ago. And in it was the best packaged model Loco I have ever received. I thought the box was so well designed and would protect the model from damage, A plastic sleeve then a sturdy card board box the a very deep foam insert containing the ice cube packaging, with the Loco held firmly in place. When I removed the Loco, the first thing that struck me was the livery and the lining. It is exquisite. Then the quality of the detail, this again was extremely good. The Loco seemed vey heavy for its size. The cab detail is very impressive, with lots of the controls finely picked out. I have only run this model in and on the test track for one day. I will have to put a DCC chip in it next. I think the body removal is is straight forward if you take your time. I have seen a you tube video on this. I would recommend reading the instructions first then watch the video. And it will be a lot easier to do. On the track it is very smooth although it was a little bit hesitant before I ran it in. After running in, it is a perfect runner. I can honestly say this is a very good model and I would absolutely recommend it. In fact I liked it so much I have ordered another one in a different livery.

As an exHattons model I knew what was coming no surprise as already have a few good.
As for the box/packaging a big overkill far to big fir the size of the contents a big minus point - sorry

Fantastic little loco!

As always from Accurascale, the finish is great and nice smooth runner. Credit to Hattons for originally bringing these locos to market, and thanks to Accurascale for ensuring Hattons’ legacy lives on
